An in depth look at Object Oriented CSS

An in depth look at Object Oriented CSS (OOCSS)

How do you scale CSS for thousands of pages? Object Oriented CSS is an answer. It’s an approach for writing CSS that’s fast, maintainable, and standards-based. It adds much needed predictability to CSS so that even beginners can participate in writing beautiful websites. Nicole Sullivan first presented it at Web Directions North in Denver and the response has been overwhelming.

We are going dive deep into object oriented CSS and learn the standards and approach to be taken.

Presenter: Kianosh Pourian

Come one, come all and join us for pizza and refreshments and learn about OOCSS.

Cheers,

I am really curious to hear how others handle OOCSS, given that my experience so far has been... difficult. It seems tough to find the balance between rigidly object-oriented ("Separate classes for everything!") and rigidly not so ("Nothing presentational in the markup whatsoever!"). Looking forward to it!

This is a struggle many of us face. Nicole Sullivan gave a presentation a while back titled "Our best (CSS) Practices are killing us". It's a good one. I also suggest reading Jonathan Snook's "SMACSS" which was mentioned this evening. Good stuff. The key is finding the balance for each project or a method that fits and works for you.

Have to sit this one out, unfortunately I can not be at 2 places at once. Sounds very interesting though, and hope slides will be posted after the event.
