Are you ready to meet others in your area that share your enthusiasm for backpacking? Then you're at the right place. This is a member-lead group for multi-day backpacking trips, long challenging day hikes, and other outdoor adventures. This forum allows members to meet others with similar interests, increase skills and knowledge by sharing experiences with others, and get together with others to do what we love, backpacking!

I'd like to get at least one or two group trips a month, a monthly social meetup and an occasional educational meetup, mountaineering class, general first aid/first responder, map navigation, etc.

Looking for someone to go backpacking or hiking with? Start a thread on the message board and email it to the group. Become an assistant organizer! Assistant organizers can use the meetup features to post, organize, and execute your trip. As an assistant organizer, please be prepared to organize at least 6 group trips per year. If you are up for the challenge, send me an email.

Please be advised that this is not a tour group. You will be expected to assess your own ability and participate in events that match your ability. You will be expected to have the sills, knowledge and equipment necessary to participate in the events you choose. By spending time with other backpackers, you will find that you will increase your skills and enjoyment greatly by sharing experiences and seeing how other people plan for and approach the same challenges. That being said; don’t be afraid to email the event organizer or myself to assess your preparedness for a trip. If you have never been backpacking before… we’ll have a trip for that, just let the organizer know and we will help ensure you have everything you need to survive. Please remember you are always solely responsible for your own safety and wellbeing, never other members, assistant organizers, or the group organizer.
