Welcome, Chicago Rock Climbers!

The purpose of this group is to bring together climbers in the Chicago area who are frustrated the mountains are so far away. This should be a collaboration from EVERYONE to guide this group in the direction that best suits it.

All members are encouraged to become assistant organizers and take an active roll in planning:

- Gym Climbs
- Weekend trips to: Devils Lake, Southern IL, etc.
- UP/Minnesota trips for ice climbing
- Slide shows from exceptional climbs and expeditions
- Workshops
- Social outings
- Etc. (I don't know - you tell us!)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

ATTEND MEETUPS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

The organizer and assistant organizers are volunteers. They DO NOT have to be (and in most cases aren't) certified climbing leaders or trainers. If you join someone (anyone!) on a trip where they will be setting up anchors and ropes for you to climb on, you should be able to analyze all the equipment and anchors for suitability and SAFETY.

*IF YOU ARE NEW to climbing outdoors, take an anchor course and/or ONLY go climbing with an AMGA certified professional.

I will post outdoor climbing trips in the spring/summer with instructors.
