For those of you who are meeting up, can I please have the exact date, time and location so I can post it for the group at large? Not all members use this mailing list, and it is getting pretty hard to keep track of things here. Once I post the training date and time on the Meetup group page, please go there and RSVP so the host knows how many to expect.
If people should bring gear or wear a certain type of clothing (IE No sleeveless shirts for grappling…a bad idea unless you want mat burn), please let me know.
Also, and this is very important, I need to know the scope of the training session. Will it be an open practice, no set agenda? Will it be instructor led? What styles will be covered? Will we be sparring or just drilling and doing techniques?
By the way, since there are new people discussing here, I’m Diana the organizer of the group. I’m 25 y/o, and have about 13 years of martial arts in one form or another. I initially studied northern shaolin, long fist both traditional and contemporary, and I did point sparring HEAVILY for several years. I competed nationally, had a sponsor, all that jazz. So if anyone wants help with point sparring for Sensei Tankson’s or any other tournament like that, I can help.
I moved on to doing kickboxing and a little grappling as well. I wouldn’t dare to presume to teach grappling, but I can definitely help with kickboxing. I’ve been doing it off and on for the last 5 years or so. I do Full Contact Rule, American kickboxing, but don’t mind working low kicks within reason, I just have a bad knee that I baby.
So yeah…give me your workout day, time, and exact location and the details of what you will be doing, and I’ll post it for RSVP. No need to keep wondering if anyone will show up.
