Update on CSO and getting any perks-

From: user 1.

One of our members is a professional musician who has contacts with the CSO. She'll be back in the fall (playing the summer in Colorado-good for her!) and she had generously offered to help me find someone at the CSO who might talk about giving the group some perks. One lady had told me that the CSO used to arrange for the group to have a table at subscribers' meetings with the artists after a concert. A periodic discount on tickets would have been another thing.

Well, now you will also know why they left as organizer of this group.

The CSO is just barely in the black-and I mean just barely. They have stopped doing after concert gatherings for the most part, maybe a rare one here and there. It seems like a small amount to keep the group going (i.e., meetup subscription costs, an administrative workers time), but they have cut everything to the bare bones, including their front office staff. I'm sure we've all experienced when your employer eliminates positions and you're now doing the work of 3 or 4 more people. Safe to say, this has also happened at the CSO. More than the $45 a quarter to stay active on meetup, they probably don't feel they can afford a worker's time to put into this.

When the member returns in September, she's going to see what she can do as far as putting me in direct contact with an actual live person (instead of voicemail or generic email!). I have to say I can't be angry with them for not getting back to me finally on this stuff-I've been there far too many times. 16-18 hour days is something I was glad to leave behind, and I would never want a clerical person at CSO doing such a day.

So we'll have to wait for things to change, and hope that they do. In the meantime, we can enjoy one another's mutual love for classical music at various events and share feedback on things.

Thanks to all for your understanding. I know it's been a few months since I've had any news to report of any merit. It's been as frustrating for me as I'm sure it's been for all of you.
