Hi and Welcome! I'm so glad you dropped by The Marietta-Roswell Chihuahua Meetup Group to check us out.
What We Are Not
We are not a stud or bitch service for Chihuahuas. Please do not advertise that you are looking for breeding material for your Chihuahua on this site or join this group simply to find a stud or bitch to breed with your Chihuahua as you will be promptly removed. This is a group for socializing your Chihuahua and yourself. There are enough homeless Chihuahuas out there looking for their forever home without us adding to the population simply because we want to breed our Chihuahuas for whatever reason. Postings for lost Chihuahuas or Chihuahuas looking for a home are permitted.
Who Are We?
Let me tell you a little bit about our group. Most of us are Chihuahua parents. Some of us are either trying to see if the breed would fit into our lives (with this being the perfect place to see several examples of the breed and to talk with other people about their dogs) or are looking for the right little Chi but until they can find him/her they need their Chihuahua fix. But we are above all else a social group. A group of like minded people who adore Chihuahuas and who want to socialize them to help them get along with the rest of the world. We also greatly enjoy socializing amongst ourselves and being able to talk to other like minded people.
Please note that this is a Chihuahua group, not a small dog group, and as such I ask that you be a Chihuahua owner (or soon to be as noted above) before you join.
When Do We Meet?
We meet the third Sunday of every month (except December - too much going on already during that month!) and have been meeting at member's homes as most members have fenced in yards and the dogs can play off leash. Sometimes we rent places to meet, like a private area in a private dog park, and there is a nominal fee (like about $5) for attending the event. - we split the cost among the attendees. We are always looking for new places to have our meetings that would be enjoyable for canine and human alike, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know.
What Do We Do at the Meetups?
The meetings are usually a potluck but you don't have to bring anything to come. After all, it's really about the socializing - both the dogs and the humans! Sometimes we have door prizes and new treats for the dogs to try but we always have fun!
Who Should Join?
If you have a Chihuahua (or two or three or four or more) and want to get them socialized - then this is the group for you.
If you want to meet some really nice people and their dogs - then this is the group for you.
If you like to dress your Chihuahua(s) up and/or talk endlessly about how cute or great your Chihuahua(s) are - then this is the group for you.
If your friends are tired of listening to you talk about your Chihuahua(s) - then this is the group for you.
If you want to be around people who are just as wild about their Chihuahua(s) as you are about your Chihuahua(s) = then this is the group for you.
Who Should NOT Join?
If you do not own or have no intention of every owning a Chihuahua - then you should not join this group.
If you are looking for breeding material for your Chihuahua - then you should not join this group.
If you do not want to actively participate in a social setting - then you should not join this group.
If dressing your dog in cute, little outfits seems silly to you - then you should not join this group.
If you can resist a little, wiggly, four-legged, furred creature just begging for a tummy rub - then you definitely should not join this group.
Should any of the above apply to you, then you will be absolutely miserable with our group and as such you should probably continue looking for a group that will fit your personality and life style. If you should join the group anyway, just remember that non-active members (lurkers) will be removed from our member list.
So, In Conclusion . . .
We are a great group of people and are only getting better as time goes by. I hope this brief introduction has answered your questions and made you want to join our group. If, on the other hand, your question was not addressed, check out our FAQ or you can contact me directly. So, hit that join button; fill out your member profile and post pictures (lots of pictures! We love to see everyone's pride and joys!); check out our upcoming event and be sure to RSVP (even if it's "no"). We look forward to meeting you and your Chi baby(ies).
