Re: [classical-91] GUILHAUME Didier has an idea -- a BAD IDEA!

Ditto! Couldn't agree more. The original posting could have been an overkill, maybe annoying to some, but not malicious. And not unlikely with some merit. To respond with malice to that, and also to everybody else, I personally find inappropriate. Who doesn't like email exchanges, has the option to change their settings.

I personally don't mind "heated" conversation, as long as it is civil.

Best to all,
Laura

This thread is instructive. To me, this thread was no big deal until we started having people posting in huge type, with tons of exclamation points, calling it a "war of egos," insulting people for being childish, and even used the word "hate"!

Nobody hates anyone here, I hope. I hope we agree that Mr. Guilhaume did not respect etiquette---posting eight emails full of self-praise is not polite. He apparently did not realize this. It's hard for me to believe he didn't realize that it isn't nice, but maybe he comes from a different country with different rules of etiquette. Or maybe he fundamentally misunderstands the purpose of Meetup.com.

Some people called him on the etiquette violation. Maybe that wasn't so nice either. Kind of the equivalent of honking a horn.

The most upset people here, from what I can see, are the ones who are troubled by this exchange enough to post these emails about "war", "hate", and insults. I can understand that you might be upset to find friction between people in a mailing list, especially one about classical music, a list where it would be nice if we all got along.

If you are new to the internet, you will find that friction exists everywhere. If this really bothers you, I suggest that the best response is: taking a sip of tea and breathing deeply. Because you can't get the friction to go away. It's everywhere.

I will do my best to minimize future friction.

Best,
Mike
