RE: [bookclub-812] Classic Book Club, Another book?

I've always wanted to read Lamming's In the Castle of my Skin and this would give me a good motivation. I would also be interested in Naipaul's A House for Mr. Biswas.

My name is Cat Sears and I am a member of the Classic Books club on Meetup. I just wanted to see if there was any interest in reading a book other than Portrait of a Lady for this month. I already read it in a literature class and wanted to branch out and try something new! Also, there are so many members of this club that I thought maybe we could read two books at the same time and not splinter interest too much.
Here are some of the books I'd like to read, in alpha order. If you want to be part of this second book club for October/November please list your top 3 books in order and I'll tally the results. Please remember to hit "Reply to Sender" and just reply to me so that people don't get swamped with emails.
1. Sandra Cisnero, The House on Mango Street
2. Joseph Conrad, Nostromo
3. Dante, the Inferno
4. George Eliot, Middlemarch
5. Homer, the Iliad
6. George Lamming, In the Castle of my Skin
7. John Milton, Paradise Lost
8. V.S. Naipaul, A House for Mr. Biswas
9. Eugene O'Niell, Three Plays (That's the name of the book)
10. Thomas Pynchon, V
11. Samuel Richardson, Pamela
12. Salman Rushdie, The Satanic Verses
I was thinking we could have a meeting on Sunday, November 9 at 6pm at Algiers Coffee House, 40 Brattle St, Cambridge, free. If we end up reading Paradise Lost, there would probably be more than one meeting for it. The same with the Iliad.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!
