Tired of being locked-in to proprietary desktop GIS? Want more flexibility, features, and style in your web-based maps than proprietary APIs provide?

Come talk about all things GIS/mapping and the intersection with free and open source software!

We'll discuss OpenStreetMap (http://www.openstreetmap.org), the free global map that everyone can edit and use with minimal restrictions, and the FOSS (free and open-source software) GIS stack: including PostGIS (http://postgis.refractions.net/), MapServer (http://mapserver.org/), GeoServer (http://geoserver.org), TileStache (http://tilestache.org/), QGIS (http://www.qgis.org/), GRASS (http://grass.osgeo.org/), GDAL (http://www.gdal.org/), and more.

These tools enable you to analyze and query geographic data, retrieve directions from one place to another, make and design maps, and more.

Open to those with all levels of experience. Laptops are encouraged but not required.

Rough agenda:
