Automating your Haunted Dungeon with OSGi
Abstract:
This talk will be an introduction to OSGi. I will demonstrate OSGI’s core capabilities by showing how I used OSGi to create a dynamic pluggable framework for controlling my Halloween Props (http://kevin.fonner.net/projects/halloween2008/index.html). Every year I have a haunted dungeon for Halloween. The individual effects in the haunted scene are implemented as OSGi components called bundles and are integrated to work together using a services framework that the OSGi framework provides. We will cover what OSGi is and its key features and show you how to get started in using OSGi to create a dynamic pluggable architecture for your next application whether it is a small application running in an embedded computer or a large web application running in Spring.
