today's PD

Hey all,
The Plain Dealer published this letter today:

I am amazed at the fear and ignorance that still lurks in the hearts & minds of this supposedly free and secular nation.

As an Atheist, I care not which set of "invisible friends" Barack Obama chooses to embrace. That is his choice, and only his. But the continuous, desperate smear campaign against Mr. Obama is helping to show America's "true colors".

First, the guilt-by-Muslim-association ploy; next, the guilt-by-association-with-abrasive preacher ploy; what will come next? Judging by the reactions I am hearing from so-called "mainstream" Americans, I am expecting the worst. Minds ruled by fear and ignorance soak this stuff up like sponges.

May I remind each and every American that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." (Article VI of the U.S. Constitution).

No hate calls yet! (Just kidding).

There were 3 other letters on the Obama/Rev. Wright topic, all differing perspectives- I thought all 3 were good letters.

So I guess I've outed myself as an Atheist to all of greater Cleveland! I didn't really think about that when I sent the letter Saturday morning.
