Well said, Tim- agreed on all points!

For those of you who haven't already checked it out- Nate Silver's "The Five Thirty-Eight" is a good site to bookmark & check occasionally. They analyze all the different polls in a very scientific manner- their predictions in 2008 were dead accurate, even down to Obama's razor-thin margins in several states.

Take a look at his charts- you'll see more as to why Joe Scarborough facepalmed himself :)

Obviously, he is fully aware that his party no longer exists, that today's GOP is being held hostage by the American equivalent of Somalian pirates!  The Christian extremists and fundaloons have taken over the GOP and the only thing holding the party together at all is a deep-seated fear of the left-leaning ideals of President Obama.  Both candidates need to repudiate the extremes.  Obama especially needs to get away from his "redistribution" philosophy (if he can).  He isn't Robin Hood and redistribution isn't going to fly here--smacks too much of guillotine politics.  Push the country into viable economic prosperity and all will benefit.  Not a trickle-down theory, but a prosperity that comes from actually making things, becoming a technological and scientific leader, with an educated and motivated work-force (requires COOPERATION and COMPROMISE between business owners and their workers).  Romnay needs to repudiate the loons (they will either not vote or vote for Romney anyway as a vote AGAINST Obama and the demon of liberalism).  And both need to end the religion-based culture war that has been tearing this country apart since about 1848--with short time-outs in order to deal with WWI and II, The world-wide Great Depression, and the fear of nuclear holocaust.  Women are human, rights are for everyone, prayer has no effect, Jesus is dead, and people fucking isn't going to bring about the end of civilization.

Scarborough is pretty much conservative (served in the U.S. House for a number of years, R-FL), but as far as I know he's no fan of off-the-deep-end GOP types & general GOP numbskullery.

Here's a good laffer for the day- check out Joe Scarborough's reaction to some footage of Romney/Ryan in Dayton the other day:
