This is a clj-syd special event in partnership with clj-melb. Read on for details.
Ambrose is the creator of core.typed - https://github.com/clojure/core.typed- , an optional type system for Clojure. Recently, he has successfully raised funds for his campaign aiming to support his full time development efforts for 6 months - and more. Check out the campaign if you haven't already: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/typed-clojure
Ambrose will tour Australia east coast with talks about core.typed in Melbourne and Sydney.
This is a great opportunity to hear from the creator himself the motivations, strengths, weaknesses and usefulness of an optional type system.
Because Ambrose will be giving this talk in person, this meetup, different from all other clj-syd events, will be paid so we can cover Ambrose's costs - and nothing more.
Any extras will be used to order pizza and beers for this and perhaps the next meetup.
I hope you all can make it. Personally I'll be attending the event in Melbourne as I'm currently working at a client down south.
Here's the original thread where I gauged people's interest: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/clj-syd/oZuwvkvRCws
