I went to a talk hosted by the Silicon Valley Cloud Computing Meetup on Eucalyptus, the original OpenSource Cloud Computing software. It was an interesting talk starting with Marten Mickos, the CEO, talking about the market and more importantly the importance of APIs in manging the cloud. Then Rich Wolski, the CTO, talked about the technology and upcoming releases. His main focus was on explaining what high availability and reliability mean in a cloud infrastructure. He also talked about the 4 networking models Eucalyptus supports. An excellent talk attended by a lot of people.

Hahah, first caps lock, second I find it hilarious that you try to isolate santa clara as the bed of cloud development when the development occurs across the globe in many locals. Ever hear of this thing called the internet? It is pretty amazing in that it allows collaboration to occur between many people regardless of location. ;)
