My name is Eric Kwok and I am a student at the London School of Economics studying for a MSc Management, Information Systems and Innovation. I am currently looking for an organisation to base my dissertation on, during the summer 2013. I am looking for a company who utilise cloud computing as part of their business.
My interest within information systems is in cloud computing and the benefits associated with it, for example the flexibility and elasticity of the Cloud. This is the ability to scale up or scale down the data service depending on the peak and non-peak demands of the business. This elasticity aspects saves money, makes companies more efficient and provides better customer satisfaction. This ability to respond is called 'agility'. My dissertation will be investigating the business agility of Cloud Computing, for example the influence of the Cloud to innovation, new products and new strategies. Does the organisation show any evidence of this 'ability to respond'? I would like to invite a company to participate in my investigation in the impact of Cloud Computing especially the agile aspect in an organisational point of view.
My proposal is to interview 5 to 10 employees, between July and August, who use the Cloud as a part of their daily work to analysis the impact of this service to the organisation. This would benefit the company because it will give time for their employees to reflect on their day-to-day activities and the effect to it due to of Cloud Computing. I will not be needing any information or data from the Cloud.
I am happy to give a copy of my dissertation to the participating company when I have finished at the end of August (and several pints of beer!). If there are any confidentiality issues, I can discuss them at a convenient time.
