Essentials of UX Design is a weekend, accelerated training course—targeted specifically at designers and software professionals who wish to become more knowledgeable in the design process. You will learn practical skills and essentials for making good design decisions quickly and confidently and how to create designs that are intuitive, and delightful.

WHY TAKE THIS COURSE?
If you have ever wondered why customers struggle to use your product, this course is for you. UX (User Experience) is a big deal. The goal of this course is to help you understand the most important and immediately useful techniques and approaches used by successful UX designers. While the material is technology independent, all hands-on labs and exercises can be applied to both desktop and mobile applications.

PREREQUISITES

At least intermediate experience in UX design. This course is optimized for the developer who is looking to efficiently learn the most important design techniques that will help them make better apps. Programming experience is not required to benefit from the design principles and best practices taught in this course.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

To get the most out of the course, participates should bring a Laptop (Windows or Mac) with a working WIFI. You will also need software for making simple drawings or illustrations, including but not limited to: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, GIMP, etc. Also bring pencils, paper and a ruler.

Peter has been designing and developing websites since age 12. He is the Creative Director at GigaSavvy, which allows him the opportunity to work on a variety of graphic design projects including branding, lettering, typography, print, posters, apparel, and especially web and user experience. Peter contributes to the creative community by helping organize and manage the Creative South Design Conference.
