Title:

My civic hacking story from San Francisco to Seoul

Abstract:

A recent graduate of Yale and current Fulbright scholar in South Korea researching the sharing economy, I hope to build a career at the intersection of policy, law, and technology. This interest was ignited during a summer fellowship at the San Francisco Mayor’s Office in 2013. Working with the Mayor’s Office of Civic Innovation (MOCI) (and Code for America, the Open Gov Foundation, and Github), I helped start the SF Open Law Initiative to increase public access to legislative documents by making them available as open data. Here, I’ll share my experiences working on a civic tech project in San Francisco, how it changed my life and helped bring me to Korea.
