Fellow Swabbie, Alex Oviedo, decided to take the initiative to form a study group for Coursera's Programming Languages course. Here is his note to the group:
Hello Code Crew!Wanted to share this free coursera course I'll be taking starting 10/3. The focus will be overall programming skills and the concepts behind all languages. It would be great to get a study group together of any of you are interested in also taking the course.
Below is a brief description but you can get more info at: https://www.coursera.org/course/proglang
"Investigate the basic concepts behind programming languages, with a strong emphasis on the techniques and benefits of functional programming. Use the programming languages ML, Racket, and Ruby in ways that will teach you how the pieces of a language fit together to create more than the sum of the parts. Gain new software skills and the concepts needed to learn new languages on your own."
