AngularJS, VertX.io, HAL & Ebean

A dream stack? Or are we back with the joke Java guy with his stack of beans?

This day will attempt to cover all of these things. VertX.io is the async layer running on the JVM that is going head to head with nodejs. Angular is one of a number of Javascript binding frameworks that for most apps, Richard thinks wins out. HAL is Mark’s way of saying he doesn’t care about the client side, the server supports serendipitous reuse. Ebean just because Hibernate really really sucks.

If any of these interest you, come along! We have space for 6 people, maybe 7 is we push it. We have internet, a great coffee machine, friendly faces and a keen interest to learn and share.

A great way to learn. Found AngularJS and vertx.io especially interesting.

Dang - missed another one :( Meetup.com seemed to have dropped me from a few groups... unless I unwittingly have 2 Meetup A/C's... Hmmm

Its in my lounge, which is big enough for the people coming :-) As people join here, I add them on Google+ to the G+ Event (which specifies my address).

I'm new to this code lounge format. Is there a location for event, is it actually hosted in someone's lounge?
Unfortunately my tiny flat has no space to host such an event.

OK, thanks. The email I received on 28th June from Richard mentioned the Friday time in the "header".

It shows 10am GMT+12 for me. Oddly, any events or anything I create in G+ don't get GMT+12, but thats my default timezone...

Hi Rick, I just checked the Event on G+ - its the same time, Sat 21 July, 10am... Mark? Is it showing properly for you? It does say GMT+12, perhaps that is the problem?

Richard, I see your google+ email mentions it's on Friday 20th, 3pm. What's the correct time?

I'm especially interested in the architecture of vert.x. I haven't used it but have read the docs now.

Rick, http://stateless.co/hal_specifi... is the current working specification, and https://raw.github.com/mikekelly... is the forth-coming IETF draft now being worked on.

https://github.com/talios/halbui... is also my Java based library for producing, and consuming HAL representations ( other implementations are mentioned on the stateless spec page ).

What's a good ref for HAL? It's a hard to google among the noise.
