Openly Disruptive is looking for facilitators to teach basic coding skills to groups of up to 16 people. Facilitators need to be great with people, as a lot of our program participants will be completely unfamiliar with coding.
Through Openly Disruptive's program, TrueSTL, we are empowering people to tell their stories by creating online collages, revealing the history and stories of migration and immigration in St. Louis. By doing this TrueSTL aims to increase digital literacy in St. Louis, especially for traditionally marginalized communities, and cultivating an interest in coding as both a hobby and a profession.
TrueSTL will begin in June and end in August this year. Each course will have a different set of participants from different backgrounds. The courses will last for four hours each and will be scheduled throughout the summer based on the availability of our participants. We will need facilitators that are either flexible with their schedules or can set aside a few times throughout the week for this project.
Facilitators will be trained at an all day workshop so that they can become familiar with the project, understand its scope, and learn how to search for answers to potential problems they may encounter.
This is a great way to earn some extra cash or a community service credit over the summer!
