Tylers message to The Phoenix Chess and Coffee Meetup

I concur with tyler, we should list alternative spots to meet. We can even do chess and coffee at my place ShopDevious.com Beauty Lounge & Boutique. If any of you ladies don’t feel comfortable playing in a manly place, ie. Hooters… we can do it “high noon tea” style, funky crazy wigged out style, conservative style or whatever you wish. I have several chess boards, comfy chairs, drinks, snacks, free coffee and it’s a cool space.

Thanks,

Anna Marie

Hey there everyone! I am a newbie to the group and I know Tom from from the Games meetup group! I just wanted to say that there is a Coffee shop right down the street from me called the Willow House Coffee Shop and its a great place to go. It used to be on 3rd Ave and Mcdowell but they had problems with the lease so they moved over too 17th Ave & Van Buren. Im sure some of you have heard of it and even been to it. Also I have a nice chess set but its just the pieces. I dont have a board, so if anyone has a nice board I can bring my pieces to use. Just let me know so I can bring the pieces.

I had an idea I wanted to run by everyone. Maybe sometime when we have a meetup planned we can do a couple locations at the same time for those who want to attend but cant attend the location that was picked. For instance, I know that the next meetup is at the AZ wildflower bread co. and I am one of those who wont be able to attend because i dont have a way to get there and back home but if we were to host another chess meetup on the same day either at the same time or a different time like at the Willow House and at least 2 people showing up (after all you need 2 people to play chess...lol), then those who cant get all the way over to the Wildflower location or another location can come to the Willow House instead. We can even do more locations on the same day for different parts of the valley providing that you have at least 2 people or maybe there should be a larger number of people attending in order to host a
meetup. Then people can pick and choose which place they want to go to for the meetup.

This is just an idea. But as always if anyone is interested in going to the Willow House and has either a chess board or a whole chess set, then i'm always up for going there and playing a game or two of chess! I know there are other places around the downtown area. There is even the AZ Center off of Van Buren & 3rd st.which has a Starbucks coffee shop as well as a couple cafe's and even a hooters for all you sports nuts...lol You can play chess, watch sports and look at hott women all at the same time...lol not really a coffee shop but what they hey as long as were there...lol  well there are some ideas and suggestions from me!
