Go has become a popular language for systems and microservices since it was launched 6 years ago.

In this presentation Peter will give a code-heavy, slide-light introduction to Go - what makes it different,its idioms, philosophy, good things, bad things, and how it's used at Teamwork.com along with some of the mistakes we made as newbies in the language.

I'm a Software Engineer at Teamwork.com, previously Lead Developer/Manager at Big Fish Games, Software Dev Manager at VCE and Developer at several other companies around Cork going back about 12 years. I spent years working with C#, but for the last 5 years I've worked with non-MS open-source technologies, mainly PHP, Python, Java, and Go.Studied at CIT and UCD.
