We are hosting a full-day seminar with Jennifer Wu as part of Canon's Explorers of Light program! And we are bringing it to you for the low, low cost of only $10!
Jennifer's program has 3 parts ...
Nature’s Elusive Beauty – Composition for Nature and Landscape Photography: This inspiring and entertaining presentation is a must see for any one interested in nature and landscape photography. Jennifer will teach you the elements of photographic composition and share her techniques to get those great shots. She will discus five elements of composition and how to create visual impact with use of lenses and composition. Discover how to create depth in an image for visual interest. She shows how focusing on form and shape to make a striking image.

Tips and Techniques: Jennifer will discuss techniques for getting great shots including tips on using the polarizing and neutral density filters, use of white balance settings, keeping the contrast in the photograph, using reflectors, use of hyperfocal distance focusing for getting images in good focus from near to far. Learn about photographing water in motion for stopping action on a waterfall or wave and for long exposures seascapes. Discover tips for photographing motion blur of waves and rivers for wispy and silky effects as well as when is a good time to photograph them.

The Amazing Night Sky - Shooting from Dusk to Dawn: Photographing after the sun has set and before sunrise offers a whole new world of images and photographic opportunities. We often think it is too dark to photograph but the camera can pick up the subtle light that our eyes do not see. The seemingly infinite darkness of the night is lit by the stars and planets. Learn how to photograph the stars, star trails, the Milky Way, the full moon, the crescent moon and long exposures of the ocean surf for a wispy effect. Learn about the quality of light at night and to use light in your photographs. Twilight offers beautiful light after sunset and before sunrise. It has characteristics that photographers can take advantage of and Jennifer will offer tips and suggestions for photographing it. Jennifer discusses light painting techniques that can be used to paint light on trees, rocks and buildings to add another dimension to night photography.

About the Photographer:
Jennifer Wu is a nature and landscape photographer, specializing in creating stunning images of the night sky and stars. With a BA in Photography from California State University, Jennifer has spent over 28 years photographing, dedicating 10 years to traditional black and white photography. Since January 2009 Canon U.S.A. selected Jennifer to be one of the world’s 36 best photographers for the Explorer Of Light program, an elite group of internationally recognized photographers. Her images have been published in numerous magazines, books and newspapers including Fortune, Popular Photography, PDN, Shutterbug, Bloomberg, BusinessWeek and Time. Jennifer enjoys sharing her passion and teaching techniques for shooting nature photography through seminars and workshops for Canon U.S.A., Light Photographic Workshops, aFilm International Film Workshops and other photographic groups nationwide. She has lead workshops in Yosemite, Death Valley, Alaska, Hawaii and internationally in Iceland, Greenland, Tanzania, Namibia, Madagascar and more. Jennifer is the co-author and photographer of the book, Photography Night Sky: A Field Guide to Shooting After Dark (2014, Mountaineers Books).

Schedule
Doors open at 8 a.m.
Morning session with break: 9 a.m. - noon
Lunch: noon - 1 p.m.
Afternoon session with break: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Lunch
A separate event will be set up to handle lunch orders.
You are also welcome to bring your own lunch if you choose to. If you go off campus for lunch, please do not be late for the start of the afternoon session, which will begin promptly at 1 p.m.
Venue
This seminar is being held in Davis Auditorium at the University of Denver.

Parking
Volunteers will be at the front door for check-in. You do not need to print out a ticket. It will help speed up the process if you know which chapter (Co Springs, Denver, Pueblo) you registered under and your Meetup name. If you use a nickname for Meetup, that's the name that will appear on the list.
For those paying at the door, please have exact cash so we can get you through the line quickly.
No one will be allowed into the building before 8 a.m.
Parking is available on campus for $8 per car for the entire day. A campus map can be downloaded here: http://files.meetup.com/1685740/CampusMap.pdf. An attendant will be on hand in Lot L to assist you. Parking in Lot L is cash only.
There is also a park-n-ride at the DU RTD stop at 1901 E. Buchtel Blvd (Buchtel & High). Fees are $2 per day for district residents and $4 per day for residents from outside the district.
Handicapped parking will be in lot 316W. Volunteers will be there to help you into the building if needed.
RSVPs
This event is open to the public and seating is limited. The purchase of tickets at the door is subject to the availability of seats
This program is listed on the calendar for our Colorado Springs, Denver and Pueblo chapters. If you are a member of another photography group or organization, please help us spread the word by sharing this information with anyone you think will be interested in attending. Those who are not members of CPLG or those without PayPal accounts can RSVP by mailing a check payable to CPLG at 1136 Darby Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
Vendors/Sponsors
A few vendors/sponsors will have tables set up outside the auditorium.
Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with these vendors during breaks and lunch as well as before and after the program.
Refunds
Due to the amount of money it is costing to host this event, refunds will not be possible. There is a set cost to renting the venue, and CPLG may end up paying part of the bill if we do not get enough RSVPs to cover this amount. If you find that your plans change, you may transfer your RSVP to someone else or donate your spot to another person who would like to attend. It is your responsibility to change your RSVP if you cannot be there. You will have to notify us if you transfer your RSVP so we can keep track of our attendee list.
Volunteers
Volunteers will be needed to help direct attendees to the auditorium and check in. Please let us know if you can help.
