October C/C++ Meetup with think-cell

Details

Hello everyone,

Our next meetup will be sponsored by think-cell (https://www.think-cell.com/en/) here in Dublin.

think-cell have offered to fly one of their senior software developers from Berlin to give a talk at our next event.

Talk title: "From Iterators to Ranges" by Edgar (1 h)

Abstract: Pairs of iterators are ubiquitous throughout the C++ library. It is generally accepted that combining such a pair into a single entity usually termed Range delivers more concise and readable code. Defining the precise semantics of such Range concept proves surprisingly tricky, however. Theoretical considerations conflict with practical ones. Some design goals are mutually incompatible altogether.

About Edgar: Edgar is a graduate of the University of Stuttgart in theoretical computer science and works as a senior software developer at think-cell in Berlin.

About think-cell: The company develops think-cell chart, a charting and presentation software written in more than 1 million lines of C++. Recently, think-cell became the key sponsor of the computer language group at DIN, the German Institute for Standardization, and is now participating in the C++ standardization effort at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Agenda:

[18:00 - 18:30] Registration and networking

[18:30 - 19:30] "From Iterators to Ranges" talk and Q&A

[19:30 - 21:30] Snacks, drinks and networking

Thanks think-cell for offering to sponsor us and for providing food and refreshments for our guests!
