Projects/ideas that cross interdisciplinary boundaries and resourceful problem solving. A passion of mine is design-enabled social innovation, in particular, design for innovative, low-cost solutions that provide better access to food, water, shelter, health, education, and energy to those who most need them. Creating more efficient, livable and sustainable cities.
In addition to my involvement with the New York City Venture Philanthropy Fund, I serve on the board of the Rosemary Pencil Foundation - we transform the lives of children in Malawi and Zimbabwe by providing scholarships and support to students for secondary school education. We are initiating a solar-powered, e-reader program to lower costs and increase access to reading material for our students. I have lived both here in New York and in Europe and my background combines international media, corporate communications and work within the social sector. I've completed academic programs in art history, interior design, non-profit management and grantmaking/philanthropy and am always up for learning something new.
I love to learn about all the exciting, interesting, clever and worthwhile projects people are involved with. I’m a connector of people and ideas and a student of culture - building relationships and forming partnerships are second nature to me. I believe in the power of collaboration, advancing social change and the limitless possibilities of innovation and would like to meet like-minded individuals with whom to exchange ideas and create new opportunities.
I am Co-Director of the NYC Venture Philanthropy Fund, a giving circle investing in social innovators whose work benefits NYC. Projects that most excite me cross interdisciplinary boundaries and a passion of mine is design-enabled social innovation.
