Quilled Snowflakes

The winter is gone but we can still make snowflakes.

To make this beautiful snowflake we'll use a technique called quilling. For those of you who don't know, paper quilling is an art form that involves the use of paper strips rolled, shaped and glued together to create decorative designs.

Quilling is easier than you think and anyone can do it. The only skill needed is patience.

The fee charged will cover the materials, instructions and tools to borrow for the session.

Tools will be available to buy after if wanted. If you have your own ones you can bring them along if you prefer.

STANDARD POLICY FOR ALL EVENTS AS OF JULY 1st 2012 - Due to complaints from members who've missed out on events, we've had to implement a strict 'no-show' policy. Anyone who RSVPs yes to an event but does not show up will automatically be listed as a 'no show' for that event. CHANGING YOUR RSVP LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE THIS EVENT WILL BE CONSIDERED A NO-SHOW. Any member who accrues 2 no-shows will be deleted from the group. If a member feels they have been unfairly treated, they are most welcome to discuss this with the Organisers; we may be strict but we are not unreasonable :)

It was brilliant, everyone went home with a snowflake and the knowledge of how to quill. It was nice to meet the girls again. I will repeat this again sometime.

Elena, thank you so much for such a fun morning. My daughter actually liked my stuff - thought it was very cool. It is very rare for me to get Cool from a 15 year old!

Also really lovely to see everyone again.

Looking forward to the next one.

    July 24, 2012

Hi Rina. I will probably repeat this event. Put yourself on the waiting list and next time when I'll repeat it the waiting list will have priority.

So sorry I'm missing this one! Good to see Sunita got a spot though :) I'll drop by if I get a chance to.

Hi Elena - I'm on the wait list and received an email saying there was a space that opened up. I tried to reply yes but wasn't able to. I'm in Australia and back in the UK on the 20th so if another spot opens up, I can definitely make the session. Many thanks Sonya :-)

Oh Elly sorry to see you're not attending. Yes come and say hi if you can. Sunita I don't want to open this to more members as is the first time I'm running a quilling workshop and don't know how it will go. If it will go well I will repeat the event and maybe increase the number of spots available.

I am happy to provide an extra co-organiser moral-support role if need be, and I can quill, so I may be able to lend a hand if necessary.

That's a beautiful example of a snowflake. I don't have the patience to roll paper myself but you're going to create some great stuff

    May 9, 2012

  • Elena H

Hi Anna. Depends how fast you are at quilling. This is a time consuming art. I reckon it will take around 2-3 hours to make one snowflake. I will try and time myself making one and I will let you know if you like.
