There's only one reason that we haven't had a meetup in months, and it's this: CS Forum 2012 (http://www.csforum2012.com).
Yup, we've been so busy preparing for the first content strategy conference in Africa that we've had little time to think about anything else.
But it's time. Time for the content-loving folk of Cape Town to gather again, and eat, and drink, and get all nerdy about the things that matter to us.
Here's what's on the agenda:
Making a better internet: a story in three acts
To start things off, we're going to be treated to a 10-minute pecha kucha-style talk by Rian van der Merwe (https://twitter.com/rianvdm). Here's what the talk will be about, in his own words:
In this talk I'm going to weave together a story about the current state of Internet discourse. At the end I'll tell you how I think we can make it better. And then we'll most likely all go back to what we were doing and forget about it. Despite the likely futility of this exercise I'm going to do it anyway. Because I love the web and I really don't want us to destroy it.
Around the world in 5 minutes
While you're getting more wine and ordering a second round of tapas, we'll take a quick video tour of the world, with a few of the international content strategy and UX experts who'll be joining us in October.
The Very Serious Panel
This is the part where we throw questions at one another like cream pies. And you'll get a chance to lob a few of your own too, so come prepared. We'll be talking about CS Forum 2012, the state of content strategy here and abroad, and more.
Your panel consists of:
Thomas Bevan (http://csforum2012.com/speaker/thomas-bevan/) - Managing Editor for the Western Cape Government’s official website, and one of three South African speakers at CS Forum 2012
Irene Walker (https://twitter.com/1rene) - speaker at CS Forum 2011, IA Konferenz 2012, and Confab 2012, and co-organiser of CS Forum 2012
Kerry-Anne Gilowey (https://twitter.com/kerry_anne) - independent content strategy consultant, and the host of CS Forum 2012
Here's what's on the menu:
