MAIN TOPIC ABSTRACT
Aeolis and DeltaCloud

Aeolus is software for running virtual machines both internally on your own equipment, and in Clouds from several leading vendors. All at the same time. Aeolus is a single, consistent set of tools to build and manage organized groups of virtual machines across private and public clouds.

Aeolus Conductor: A way to provide cloud resources to users, manage users' access to and use of those resources, and control users' instances in clouds. This lets users make intelligent choices about which cloud to use. Aeolus Composer: A way to build cloud-specific images from generic templates, so that users can choose clouds freely using compatible images. Aeolus Orchestrator: A way to manage clumps of instances in an organized way. Users should be able to automatically bring up a set of different instances on a single cloud or spanning multiple clouds, configure them, and tell them about each other. Aeolus HA Manager: A way to make instances or clumps of instances in the cloud highly available. All these things are possible because of the Deltacloud cross-cloud abstraction library. Deltacloud itself is a separate project.

In this presentation you will learn about Aeolus and Deltacloud. You will see a demonstration of how to use Aeolus to build and deploy images into one or more clouds and then launch instances. You will also hear how Aeolus fits in with Katello, open source system management software.

MAIN SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
William Henry

William Henry has over 20 years experience developing large scale, distributed systems and service oriented architectures for both government and private industry, including finance, telecommunications, healthcare, transport, animation and software product development. This experience includes extensive use of both standard and proprietary technologies, deploying and integrating enterprise class applications and services. William has worked in engineering, product development, professional services, partner alliances and has held several management positions. William currently works in the office of CTO at Red Hat with a specific focus on the MRG and Cloud product lines. He has helped deploy large scale grids, developed AMQP based applications, and more recently worked with Openshift Express, Flex and Cloudforms beta.

William has been guest speaker and expert panelist at various industry events including Red Hat Summit, OMG, JavaOne, TheServerSide, and other industry events. William holds both a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Dublin City University, Ireland, and now lives in Colorado, USA.

Senior Consulting Software Engineer (distinguished engineer) in the Office of CTO at Red Hat (NYSE: RHT).
