beSwarm 6

Details
★★ What's Happening ★★
beSwarm is an annual event for the central Virginia technology community. It's run in the "unconference" format -- meaning that there are no speakers decided in advance, no prepared slide decks, and especially no vendors making obnoxious pitches.
Instead, the event coalesces around the interesting people that show up (like you!). The topics are whatever the attendees would like to talk about, show off, or demonstrate. For example:
-- something interesting you're working on
-- something neat you recently learned
-- something cool you built
-- something complicated you wrote
and so on.
As an attendee, your goal should be to try to learn at least one thing you didn't know before, and to talk about one thing you want to share (even if it's just to one other person). You should always feel free to "vote with your feet": walk over and explore whatever seems interesting to you.
beSwarm can't succeed without your help! Tell everyone you know!
★★ Our Sponsors ★★
beSwarm 6 is generously sponsored and hosted by the non-profit Center for Open Science, whose mission is to foster the openness, integrity, and reproducibility of scientific research. Check them out: http://centerforopenscience.org/
★★ Registration: Just RSVP ★★
Attendance at beSwarm 6 is free. Coffee, breakfast baked goods, and lunch will be provided for all attendees.
The only prerequisite is that you must register by RSVPing here. We need your RSVP so that we can order lunch for everyone in advance, and to make sure that we don't overbook the space.
★★ Venue and Parking ★★
beSwarm 6 is hosted at the Center for Open Science, at 210 Ridge McIntire Road, Suite 500, Charlottesville VA.
The Center for Open Science is located inside the Downtown Business Center Annex, adjacent and connected to the Omni Hotel.
Free parking is available on the streets around Ridge-McIntire Road. Paid parking is available at the Omni Hotel, at the Water Street Parking Lot, and in Downtown Charlottesville.
★★ Code of Conduct ★★
Finally, beSwarm is dedicated to providing an inclusive and harassment-free experience for everyone. We don't tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants violating these rules might be sanctioned or expelled from beSwarm at the discretion of the organizers.
We have joined other groups around Central Virginia to proactively create a shared Code of Conduct and Anti-Harassment Policy, which you can read here: https://github.com/cville/conduct
If you have questions or need to report something, please get in touch with the organizer, John Feminella, using the Meetup link on the left, or by emailing jxf@jxf.me.
