Integrative Approaches to Treating Kidney Disease in Dogs & Cats
Dear Macy,
Please join us for another informative talk by Dr. Gary Richter to learn why kidney disease affects so many older dogs and is almost an epidemic in cats. Chronic kidney failure is a slowly progressing disease that often goes unnoticed for some time before symptoms appear. In fact, most animals do not show signs of kidney failure until about 70-75% of kidney function has been lost. Dr. Richter will discuss ways to avoid this disease, signs and symptoms, integrative approaches to treatment, diet, and how you can improve the quality of your companion's life.
Dr. Richter is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and chiropractor as well as owner and medical director of Montclair Veterinary Hospital in Montclair and Holistic Veterinary Care on Piedmont Ave. His holistic care center incorporates acupuncture, chiropractic, and herbal medicine and includes a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science, a Masters of Science in Veterinary Medical Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Richter's professional interests are emergency, general practice, alternative care medicine and wildlife rescue. He volunteers his time on the Board of Directors for the Alameda County Veterinary Medical Association and is currently serving as president. He is also the California Veterinary Medical Association's Alameda county representative regarding animal disaster planning.
