DANG! is in need of a Co-organizer!

HISTORY

The Dallas Artists Networking Group Meetup (a.ka. dang!) was created by a husband and wife team of artists in September 2007. Nick and Natalie Hutchings established a monthly social for artists to come together to hang out, chat, collaborate and share information about exhibitions and calls-to-artists. After Nick was accepted to the MFA Painting Program at Washington University (St. Louis, MO), the Hutchings relinquished the group in July 2008 to Zoetina Veal, member since October 2007.

With the foundation laid by the Hutchings, the dedication of its new organizer and the participation of its members, DANG has grown to 600+ meetup members since its inception . This rapid growth (in size and member diversity) inspired its members to set some goals and to transform DANG into an organization with a mission.

MISSION STATEMENT

“To support and promote the visual and performing arts in the greater Dallas community by empowering artists in all stages of their creative careers.”

GOALS

* Provide artists with networking and learning situations that enable them to grow artistically.
* Establish a venue where artists can create and display their work with minimal financial risk to each individual artist.
* Increase exposure and financial opportunities for emerging and seasoned artists.
* Encourage appreciation and consumption of a wider array of visual and performance art.
* Bring together a sizable and dynamic community of artists that will be influential in Dallas and its surrounding communities.
