HTML5 Hands-On - Chump to Champ - Part 1 (Academy Zone - Night Shift)

WordPress themes are littered with HTML5 and JavaScript these days. This is a course to chomp it up. It is for everyone - from absolute non-developers to hardcore programmers - who always wished to conquer this powerful new technology. We will start at the very basics and go all the way to the advanced features.

Why 8:15PM? It gives you time to get something to eat, settle down and run errands.  This is a Night Shift Course that will follow our regularly scheduled meetup.   Samir Damle will be participating in our round table discussion on best practices leveraging HTML5 and JavaScript for mobile development prior to instructing this course.

Checkout the reviews from Samir's previous event Google Technology and Developer Group - Washington DC.

This is Part 1 and will cover -
- What is HTML5
- Basics
- Head tags
- Semantic tags
- The new Form Elements
- Local storage
- Geo-location

This is a hands-on course, so get your laptops (and chargers).

Minimum requirements:
- Laptop
- A code editor like Vim(Linux), Xcode(Mac) or Notepad++(Windows)
- Webkit browser like Chrome or Safari

Part 2 (TBD) will cover more advanced features like drag-drop, audio-video, canvas, mobile apps, etc.

Speaker/Trainer/UX Specialist: Samir Damle is a User Experience Designer and a technology enthusiast who has been designing web apps since the days of Netscape. He works at Infor in Herndon and is frequently found in local tech meetups and hackathons.

kayley, if you are not able to make it to this one. We will be doing the event again real soon. Since we will begin rotating our venues, including some on the metro line -0 this may be available in Arlington or DC next month. In the future, if everything progresses well, we may be offering shuttles to West Falls church metro. Thanks for your interests and support.

I am interested in attending but am based in DC and don't have a car. Is there a chance any participants could give a ride to the event from the nearby West Falls Church metro?

    Please let me know
