17 miles w 4800 gain to Hawksbill Mountain/Franklin Cliffs passing Cedar Run/WOC

This hike not only gives us 8.5 hours' butt-kicking workout, it also offers spectacular views of Vista after Vista and Falls after Falls. The views from Franklin Cliffs look out on the Massanutten range to the west. There is a spectacular 270 degree panorama from the Hawksbill Summit (with 4050 elevation) with a view of Old Rag. The Cedar Run and White Oak Canyon trail give us many great falls view, swimming holes and the water slide.

Thanks to Jin and her support team for the hike, and to Rob for his patience with my grumpy knee. This is one of my favorite areas and it was nice to share it with new trail mates!

This was my first meet up with the group and first time doing a long distance in SNP. I appreciated Jin's motivation and the scenery was beautiful. Nice trail for swimming. Glad to have met some new people while working out.

A neighbor and I just missed the RSVP cutoff. We're driving straight to the trailhead. Perhaps we'll see you there? Either way, enjoy the hike!

I'm driving from East of DC to Vienna metro for car-pooling. I can pick up folks from either the north side of the beltway or by passing through DC if someone needs a ride.

I also can go to a place which is more convenient for you to pick me up. What time? How much to pay you for the ride? Really appreciate your help!

This will be my first time going on a hike with the group. Since it said we are paying 7 dollars towards gas for carpooling, I wanted to confirm that there is transportation from the park and ride to SNP.

Would someone be able to give me a ride to the Vienna metro station from DC? I live in the Shaw neighborhood. Andrew, it looks like you're the only one who volunteered to give rides, but it's probably a bit out of the way if there's anyone closer.

Did it Saturday as a "training" hike, 8 /12 hours exactly, including 2 swims in White Oak Creek, lotsa water, was really spectacular, may decide to do it again with the group.

I'll be needing a ride from DC. I live in the Shaw neighborhood. Jin, I think at some point you said you could give me a ride, but I just wanted to double check.
