3/29: Punk Rock Karaoke at the Black Cat

UPDATE: Doors open at 8, and singing begins at 9.

This karaoke show features a collection of songs from punk rock bands as well as indie and Britpop-adjacent acts such as the Smiths, Siouxie and the Banshees, Joy Division, even Chumbawumba (?!?).

This event is a benefit for DC Books to Prison
http://dcbookstoprisoners.org/

Incidentally, I'll be cross-posting this with the karaoke Meetup group which I also organize for. :)

Tickets are $8.

This was an awesome time! The crowd was super fun, energetic, and friendly. Can't wait for the next Punk Rock Karaoke event on June 2!

Some notes about tomorrow's Punk Rock Karaoke show:

Doors open at 9. I don't know what time the actual karaoke starts, but I recommend getting there early to submit your song!

Finding street parking is tough in this area, especially on a Friday. So I suggest using the garage that is on the north side of U St. between 15th and 14th. The parking charge is $10.

If this night is anything like last year's Punk Rock Karaoke event, expect a packed and boisterous (but in a good way) room.

Also, the song queue got so long last year that the DJ operated on an "open mic" policy - meaning that anyone was welcome to join in on anyone else's song using the second mic.
