Building Web Applications Using Node.js

Building Web Applications Using Node.js

Details

You've heard the hype, now see what it is all about: our speakers will walk you through how to build, test, and deploy a web application using node.js. The presentation will cover installing node.js (http://nodejs.org/), starting with the express (http://expressjs.com/) web framework, testing using mocha (http://visionmedia.github.com/mocha/), storing data in MongoDB (http://www.mongodb.org/), deploying to Heroku (http://www.heroku.com/), and - time permitting - integrating HTML5 websockets using socket.io (http://socket.io/).

About The Speakers:

Seth Carney is a MCPD who has spent over 10 years developing on the .NET stack. Over the last 6 months he has become a complete node-aholic and spends much of his time pushing the use of node.js forward at Eloqua, where he is a Senior Developer.

Troy Goode is a MCPD who has spent over 10... wait, you already read that. Troy is a Software Development Manager at Eloqua who rarely has a chance to code at work anymore - but when he does, his poison of choice is node.js.
