Subject: National Trails Day this Saturday

Short story:

Go here and register for the Avalon projects or here for the McKeldin projects.

Long story:

National Trails Day Saturday June 5, 2010 - Patapsco Valley State Park - 08:30 AM to 01:00 PM

Patapsco Valley State Park is partnering with REI ( both stores - Timonium & College Park ), MORE, The Friends of Patapsco Valley and Heritage Greenway and Trail Conservancy to create the biggest trail day ever!

We could potentially see 250 volunteers from every walk of life! REI is handling registration and food. MORE is providing leaders for all the trail worksites and tools. FPVHG is leading stream cleanups. Worksites will accommodate the newcomers to advanced experienced trail builders. Projects range from stream cleanups to blazing to maintaining waterbars and building a turnpike to a full fledge mile plus reroute of a terribly eroded trail. Stream armoring, retaining wall building, full bench cutting, grade reversals, knicks, rolling grade dips, step building, deberming, good night irene! - just about everything you can think of! There are no less than 31 potential sites spread out all over Avalon and McKeldin. I'll tell you what, I'm excited.

Some of our project sites are still in review so this list is subject to change.

You need to register with REI to get a t shirt and lunch and all the good stuff we have planned for you! Register here:

McKeldin worksites through the Timonium store

Avalon worksites through the College Park store

You have to come, I mean FREE T-Shirts!  it won't get any better or bigger than this!

Here's the MORE thread for questions.
