About The Washington Photography Meetup Group

Welcome to the Washington Photography Meetup!
The Washington Photography Meetup group is for the photography enthusiast; young and old, novice to professional, film or digital. Our group is not only a photography club in the traditional sense, but a social outlet for people here in the DC area who are interested in getting together to meet, have fun, and share their enjoyment of photography.

Our Meetup is meant to get you out shooting, discussing, and sharing. Each month, we want to help everyone flex their creative muscles with our:

• Monthly meetings - share photos, discuss photography topics, and plan upcoming events
  
• Photowalks - practice shooting on location
  
• Museum and gallery outings - check out photography exhibitions of interest around town
  

RSVP Policy and Rationale
There is a "three strikes" rule for RSVPs. If a member RSVPs "Yes" or "Maybe" to an event invitation and does not attend three times within a year, we will remove the member from the group. So please, update your RSVPs as you figure out your plans or if your plans change. At the same time, please RSVP "Yes" if you know you are attending an event. The rationale for this policy is three-fold:

• Organizers need to know an accurate headcount to plan, reserve, or get permission at venues.
  
• For events that are space-limited, a no-show member prevents another interested member from attending.
  
• Organizers will send last-minute updates and contact info only to those who RSVP "Yes" or "Maybe" to limit the number of unnecessary emails to members who are not attending.
  

Call for Volunteers
The Washington Photography Meetup group is an all-volunteer effort. Please email any of the organizers if you are interested in helping with any of the following, either on a one-time or an ongoing basis:

• Organizing a photowalk, gallery visit, or general meetup/outing
  
• Leading a mini-workshop or discussion for members on a particular topic
  
• Suggesting ideas for future events, venues, and/or future improvements
  

Fee
A fee of One Dollar ($1) is charged for each photo event. This very nominal fee is our way of keeping our Meet Up group running without having to impose a membership fee. The money you pay goes into a pool to pay for the annual fee charged by Meetup for our group site. We appreciate your donations.
