Sheila Berry, Founder of Living Vicky
Sheila is the Founder and Executive Director of Living Vicky, although her background includes a wide variety of experiences working in many different industries, she has always been drawn to business analysis and process improvement roles. She is currently a Sr. Business Systems Analyst with Booz Allen Hamilton. Although she very much enjoys her work, her passion is being a mentor.
Sarah MacLellan, Committed Volunteer and Philanthropist
Sarah first began volunteering in Middle School with “Pets on Wheels”, bringing her dog, Brandi, to visit residents within the nursing home along with her Aunt Susan. In 2005, when Sarah moved to Florida, she began volunteering again. This time, it was at the Christian Sharing Center. It was an experience that
she had there that would forever change her life, and lay the way for her passion of helping those less fortunate.
After years of affiliation with various organizations that focused on poverty, Sarah began to think hard on how to break the cycle. It was when Sarah joined Bags of Hope, an organization that delivers food and books to the low-income and homeless children, that she started to see what changes needed to be made.
Sarah now knowing her passion and purpose in life to be education for these children, took a chance, put in her notice to work, packed her car and moved back to the DC Metro Area. She is back to pursue making changes to better the education and school environment for low-income, homeless and at-risk youth and to give them a fair chance.
Sarah was a Preschool Teacher at a local homeless shelter, a Sunday School Teacher at another shelter and mentored at a bottom-ranking Elementary School as well as started an organization to celebrate the Birthdays of homeless children living within Central Florida shelters. In addition, Sarah believes that even if you only choose to volunteer one time, that one time could change a child’s life forever - and for
the better. Give a positive memory to a child who might not have one yet.
