Bitsquare (+ beginners intro + pizzas)

Details

We will start the evening with a short, non-technical introduction to Bitcoin, focusing on practical usage. So if you are an absolute beginner, come and join us, because we're doing this for you!

Then, we are very pleased to welcome Manfred Karrer, founder and main developer of Bitsquare (http://bitsquare.io), who will present this project.

The presentation on Bitsquare will cover why a decentralized Bitcoin exchange is needed in the Bitcoin ecosystem and how to build it. It will focus on political and conceptual aspects and will give a short demo of the software. Finally it will explore further possible utilizations of the blockchain technology like DAOs (Decentralized autonomous organizations).

Key topics to be covered:

• Why is decentralization needed for a privacy protecting Bitcoin-Fiat exchange which does not require registration (no KYC/AML)

• How to build a decentralized exchange (and how to make it secure)

• Which features of Bitcoin make it possible (MultiSig, atomic transaction solves who pays first problem...)

• How Bitsquare protects privacy (P2P network over Tor hidden services)

• Why Bitsquare is on the path to a DAO model with decentralized ownership, and not built as a startup
