Big thanks to Wunderlist for stepping up last minute and hosting this months meetup!

Because the elevator to the office can only be used with keycards and we need to shuttle you up please be on time.

Now on to the program:

Actor Systems in Clojure: What are your options? by Andrei Ursan

Wunderlist, with millions of active users, continues to grow, bending its realtime sync technology to the limits. This pushed them to rethink and experiment with different architectural approaches. In this talk Andrei will cover what they learned from Akka’s Actor System and how to achieve something similar in Clojure.

Andrei is a Software Engineer @Microsoft, part of the polyglot team that builds Wunderlist. He’s now enjoying the world of Microservices and the challenges of scalability. Having worked with a number of programming languages he finds Clojure and its simplicity to be his preferred tool.

May I have your orders please? – Dataflow in Om Next by Tibor Claassen

Having played around with Om Next (https://github.com/omcljs/om/wiki/Quick-Start-(om.next) over the last few weeks, Tibor shares his learning about how this fresh approach on organizing a centralized application state simplifies synchronization between custom data stores and remote services. While there will be concrete examples that demonstrate potential integration with DataScript (https://github.com/tonsky/datascript) and Datomic (http://www.datomic.com/), the talk is aimed at illustrating the underlying concepts rather than providing a beginner's tutorial on Om Next.

Tibor began his career as an illustrator, artist and graphic designer, discovering his passion for web development and web technologies 15 years ago. Since then he has been working as a web designer, creative director, full stack developer and technical lead on a wide range of projects and technologies in a variety of contexts. Currently he is responsible for product development at LambdaWerk GmbH (http://lambdawerk.com/) in Berlin.
