In this class we will introduce you to the Ruby on Rails® open source web framework. We will start with a quick trip through model-view-controller architecture, the convention over configuration design paradigm and the active record design pattern. We will end the day with you deploying your own running RAILs application to Heroku.

Prerequisites:

Laptop with a modern web browser installed
Basic understanding of Ruby and Object Oriented Programming
Please complete the Code Academy Ruby Track if you are not familiar with Ruby or OO and would like to take this course.
We will use a Web IDE so you do not need an installed RAILs development environment or specific OS to follow along.
Before the day of the class please sign up for a free account at Github, nitrous.io, and heroku.com.
About the Instructor:

This class is presented by Will sterling. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2000 with a degree in Information Technology. He has worked in Colorado since then in various roles from including system administration, network administration, devops engineer and software developer. Will currently works at Wowza Media Systems as a Senior Engineer where he builds and maintains applications to make you look awesome by streaming your live events on demand with little to no configuration.
