Three bits of DBC news

Good morning book lovers!

Three short items of Denver Book Club buisness.

First, we've been offered the use of the Whittier Community Center at 2900 Downing Street for our annual holiday party. The rate would be $10 per hour. Three members have commented favorably on the message board about this option, and no one has voiced any objections. So, let's go with this venue. If you have a preferred date for the party, please let me know right away.

Second, nominations are still open for the January nonfiction and February fiction selections. Please contact me or Francis with your nominations. Oh, and be sure to vote, too.

Third, looks like we have a great cross-section of men and women ready to discuss our October selection, Why Men Are the Way They Are, next Thursday at the Denver Press Club. We have room for more.

I seldom am a booster for any given book (beyond simply encouraging you to attend the meetup), yet this time I'm making an exception. Having been active in the "men's liberation movement" since the late 1970s, I can tell you that author Warren Farrell is one of the most important writers about "the new male." So, I am totally certain that our conversation next Thursday evening will rank among our most stimulating ever. And as ever, you do not need to read all or any of the book to attend the meetup and join in our lively dialogue.
