Free Software for Photographers Part 2: Fotoxx

Do you take photos? Do you ever need to enhance your photos?  What about organize them?  If you answered "yes" to any of these, join us for part 2 of our series on Free Software for Photographers.

Dick Miller is going to teach us Fotoxx, a free open source GNU/Linux program for photo editing and collection management. The goal is to meet most user needs while remaining fast and easy to use.

What you will learn:

• Index images and create photo collections

• Adjust brightness, color and gamma curves

• Sharpen, blur and reduce noise

• Anti-alias: suppress "jaggies" in low-rez images

• Apply special effects

• Much more!

Bring your questions, your laptop, and even your photos if you'd like!

Thank you Joshua Gay for the talking points and inspired call to action for the Defective By Design campaign. ( http://www.defectivebydesign.org/ ) It's always good to remember that an effective protest doesn't need to have a lot of people -- a handful of people with a good story to hand over to bloggers with some well-shot photos can be just as effective.

Thank you to Dick Miller for the excellent and well-practiced demo of Fotoxx. ( See URL in my previous message.) Even though we ran out of time, you were able to make the message clear: Fotoxx is THE solution for managing and tweaking your life's stream of photos, and it's Free!
