MongoDB/AngularJS Bash (Trisha Gee)

Details

The wonderful Trisha Gee (http://qconlondon.com/speakers/trisha-gee) is coming to Belfast for a Bash talk on June 15th!

If you don't know Trisha, check out her QCon profile (http://qconlondon.com/speakers/trisha-gee), detailing an an impressive background working in Java high performance systems (LMAX), document stores (MongoDB), and most recently IntelliJ/Jetbrains.

Title: HTML5, AngularJS, Groovy, Java and MongoDB all together - what could possibly go wrong?

Abstract

We hear it’s common to create an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) in a language that facilitates rapid prototyping, and then migrate to the JVM when the application requires better stability and performance.

I’m going to use Java to create a web application in under an hour. The JVM is a polyglot platform, and I’ll show how to use the correct tools for this application, including: AngularJS; Bootstrap; HTML 5; Web Services; Java; MongoDB; and Groovy - it’s fully buzz-word-compliant. I won’t go into every technology in depth, I’ll demonstrate the role of each tool and how they interact.

At the end of the talk we’ll have a fully working mobile/browser-friendly app, without compromising on design or good practice. It’s even going to have tests.

Venue

We'll be upstairs at Aether and Echo, on Garfield Street just off Royal Avenue. If you haven't been before, you will like.

And thanks to Deloitte for their help in sponsoring and bringing Trish to Belfast.
