Configuration Management is a pillar of DevOps, and Puppet is one of the leading CM tools out there. Join us downtown Chicago for a Saturday hack-a-thon with Puppet Labs. Teyo Tyree, one of the founders of Puppet, and Jacob Helwig of Puppet Labs have graciously agreed to join us to lead us in a Chicago DevOps style two track hackathon.
Track 1: Beginners led by Teyo covers CM in general, how puppet works and is architected, and then how to hack on their code base. We will be doing so by the end of the day.
Track 2: Advanced led by Jacob Helwig covers advanced architecture and digs into actual Puppet trouble tickets with the aim of actually pushing code to Puppet by the end of the day.
This looks to be a great day of learning and hacking. See you all there!

All here are VMWare, and VirtualBox VM images that you can use to actually hack on Puppet. These two links are from the Puppet site

The OVF was exported from VirtualBox as an 0.9 OVF.
Both VMs have a "hackathon" user, with the password as "puppet".
