Continuous integration, source control, virtualization, microservices — all of these tools and patterns are necessary to build highly available and high-performing web applications. But have you considered how your choices in tooling and process impacts the way your engineers relate to one another and the software they work on? Let’s examine the intersection of toolsets and human communication, looking at examples from both commercial and open-source software. We’ll discuss how and why technical choices influence the way humans interact with one another, and discuss how to make better choices.

She started coding after receiving a hand-me-down DOS system and has been lost in the code mines ever since.
