About Democracy for America : Honolulu Meetup

This meetup had its origins in the candidacy of Governor Howard Dean for President of the United States. After Gov. Dean dropped out of the race for the presidency, this meetup, like others across the country, changed its name to Democracy for America (http://www.democracyf....

Inspired by the presidential campaign of Howard Dean, Democracy for America (DFA) is a political action committee dedicated to supporting fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of government, from school board to the presidency. DFA fights against the influence of the far right-wing and their radical, divisive policies and the selfish special interests that for too long have dominated our politics.

This meetup began as a branch of Hawaii for Democracy. It is mainly active in Honolulu area, including Kaneohe and Kailua. At this time, the organizer of this group is Bob Schacht. A related group for the neighbor islands and CD-02 is Democracy for Hawai'i


This is an exciting time for Hawai'i for Democracy -- we have enough organization to accomplish great things, but we are small enough that there is plenty of space for anyone who wants to contribute on any level.
