New Meetup: April DFWWP: Planning for Success: Design Like a Pro

From: Tony C.
Sent on: Monday, April 19, 2010 11:55 PM
Dear WordPress Rockstar,

As I write these words, our group page reads "700 WordPress Rockstars". Another milestone!

Of course, numbers are meaningless without connection and personal relationships that grow out of the group. Many of you do business together, consult, and create cooperative ventures.

One cooperative venture headed up by John Pozadzides is the OpenCamp blogging conference scheduled for August 27-29 in Addison. Incorporating WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla sessions, OpenCamp promises to be the southwest's biggest blogging conference. Considering that John's 2008 and 2009 WordCamp conferences sold out fast, I've already reserved a seat. Reserve yours today at

Another excellent cooperative venture is the WordPress developers SIG (WordPress Developer and Technical User Group). They now have their own rockin' web site at They will hold their next monthly meeting on Thursday May 13 at 6:30 PM at Richland Community College. Randy Hoyt, a local university instructor and web developer, will be discussing techniques for working with images in WordPress.

This month, our meetup will feature a focus on web design.

Don't just jump in. Pause and think about it. Chris Ronan and Leia Scofield of RD2 will talk about design tools and practices that will help you plan and achieve a better outcome with your WordPress blog. You'll learn a process to help engage design thinking the right way -- whether you design yourself, have a design partner, or use existing WordPress themes.
