Serena Maneesh

Serena Maneesh (sometimes spelled Serena-Maneesh or shortened to S-M) is an alternative rockband from Oslo, Norway. Intense noise and pulsating rhythms often reveal hidden harmonies and melodies, while crooked and distorted blues-riffs are replaced by psychedelic strings and vague vibes, flutes and organs. The structure of the songs is often unorthodox w/ angelic voices and primal screams. The long awaited sophomore album is set to be released in March 2010 on 4AD.

Riding in on oceanic waves of drone and immense muscular drums, enter the spectral pop duo ZAZA. While associated with their peers in Brooklyn's recent exploding indie-pop/shoegaze scene, ZAZA sonically contrast from their guitar-pop brethren in favor of something darker, more mysterious driven by haunting, ethereal vocals and rolling, cavernous rhythms. Recently signing to Kanine Records, the duo released their debut EP "Cameo."

Cruel Black Dove

Cruel Black Dove is a buzz-worthy female-fronted Brooklyn outfit whose music is uniquely hypnotic, characterized by an eerie, electro backdrop, accompanied by strangely soulful vocals. They set the stage on fire with their brilliant rhythmic mixture of industrial, dark wave and indie rock, ominous red lighting, fuzzed out bass, and unpredictable ferocity. Their latest "The Myth and the Sum" drops in January 2010.

I might see them on Fri in Merc Lounge as well, but am not sure of my schedule and can't commit. Matt, and anyone else going on Fri, be sure to get there in time to see The Vandelles! They are a great live band. If you haven't heard them check out the archive of their live performance on 91.5FM

Also try to get your tix ahead of time. Littlefiled is huge and prob won't sell out, but there is a good chance that Merc Lounge will.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
