Making Django Play Nice with Third Party Services

Summary: Modern Django projects combine custom apps with third party services, such as Twilio and Stripe, to create a complete product. Choosing the right services for your application can make or break its usefulness to users as well as your sanity during maintenance. This talk will show you how to properly evaluate, integrate, and maximize what you get out of SaaS products in your Djangoprojects.

Speaker profile: Matt Makai is a traveling software developer working for Excella Consulting while road tripping to thirty cities in five months from March through August 2013. Matt has been developing with Django since 2007 starting with version 0.96. He developsDjango web applications for clients such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Motley Fool, George Washington University, and Marriott International.

Matt writes two blogs, one on software development and entrepreneurship at http://www.mattmakai.com/ and another on his current Coding Across America trip around the United States to visit with technology companies at http://www.codingacrossamerica.com/. He has a B.S. in Computer Science from James Madison University, an M.S. in Computer Science and Applications from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia.
